Over the years, Shalakany's legacy has been one of contributing efforts and guidance to complex projects of global reach, on behalf of various prestigious and multinational organizations. It is a legacy the firm remains committed to upholding.

One such undertaking, performed for the International Federation Of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) based in Switzerland, was the Arabic translation of the multi-volume “Fidic Conditions of Contracts for Works of Civil Engineering Construction.”

The FIDIC is a global association of consulting engineers whose membership numbers more than 60 countries and whose institute represents most of the private practice consultants in the engineering field today. The work serves as a guide and manual for conditions of contract for building and civil engineering works, plants and design of buildings, and preparation of forms of letters of tender, contract agreements and dispute adjudication.

A committee of Shalakany attorneys specialized in construction contracts prepared the translation, which took over two years to complete. The committee sought to and succeeded in producing a document that would service both the common law and civil law systems of the globe.

The Firm has also translated documents of international law for organizations such as Unidroit, (for whom they prepared a trilingual Arabic/English/French edition) principles of international commercial contracts and has interpreted and contributed original works to renowned legal journals in the Middle East Region such as Al Ahkam.

The Journal "Al Ahkam" and The Advocate Newsletter
Shalakany Law Office founded the Journal "Al Ahkam" in Arabic as a response to the recent rapid changes and development of commercial and civil law within all sectors of the Egyptian and Middle Eastern legal field. Al Ahkam seeks to provoke and facilitate dialogue among academics, private and government practitioners grappling with the cutting edge legal issues that will impact the future of the region. The Firm also publishes a quarterly newsletter in English, "The Advocate," which strives to cover legal and non-legal matters that may be of interest to the Firm's clients.
