Shalakany successfully represents its Client before the Egyptian Conseil d’Etat

Shalakany is pleased to announce that it successfully represented its Client, a major company operating in the field of free markets in Egypt, in a case brought by the Client against the Customs Authority before the Egyptian Conseil D’Etat.


The Client’s exposure vis-à-vis the Customs’ Authority pursuant to a custom tax claim was circa EGP 32 million. Shalakany filed a court case challenging said claim and was able to secure a favorable ruling confirming that the Client is not liable to pay the full amount of the claim.


The team handling this matter is comprised of Mr. Mahmoud Shedid (Senior Counsel), Mr. Abdel Karim Attiya (Counsel), and Mr. Mohamed Morsi (Associate).
